"Mama, did you pick out warm socks for yourself? I have my orange stripe socks with the smiley face on one side and my blue socks with the smiley faces on both sides. Do you have warm socks?"
He is home with Ken packing for our trip to the UP. Monday he called too. They were bringing me lunch because we didn't have anything at home for me to take with me that morning.
"Mama, did you get my message? I asked you what do you want for lunch?"
"Are you at the store?"
"We already left the store."
"Are you on the way to my office?"
"Yes. Wait outside and call us when we get close."
I absolutely love talking to Owen on the phone. Especially when he calls me at work. It is so nice to have my day interrupted by a call from him. But more than that there is just something about talking to him on the phone that just melts my heart. I'm not sure what it is, but it is different than talking to him face to face. He sounds so grown-up in a way, but still like a little kid. I can't explain it, but every time he calls it puts a big smile on my face that lasts well past when we hang up. The only thing that might be better is when he leaves me a voice mail message.
"Mama this is Owen. Call me. Ok. Ok. Love you. Love you too. Bye. Bye."
And probably the best part is that I get to listen to it again and again.
